Crypto gas fees by chain

Where's the cheapest place to transact right now? Live gas across all eight chains, sorted cheapest first — then bridge there in a couple of minutes.

#NetworkTypical gasBridge
Live gas from LI.FI for a typical transaction. * Solana is estimated (EVM gas API only).

How to read this

Each row is the estimated cost of a typical transaction's gas on that chain, right now, pulled live from LI.FI and priced in USD. Lower is cheaper. It moves constantly — especially on Ethereum — so refresh before you decide.

The short version

  • Layer 2s (Base, Arbitrum, Optimism) and Polygon are almost always cents or fractions of a cent.
  • Solana is fractions of a cent by design.
  • Ethereum mainnet is usually the priciest and the most volatile — a swap can jump from a dollar to well over $20 when blocks fill.

If your funds are stuck somewhere expensive, the fix is simple: bridge to a cheaper chain once, then transact freely on the other side. Start from the full list of routes, or read what bridging costs.

Common questions

Which chain has the cheapest gas fees right now?

It changes minute to minute, which is why the table above is live. Layer 2s like Base, Arbitrum, and Optimism, plus Polygon and Solana, are almost always a fraction of a cent to a few cents. Ethereum mainnet is usually the most expensive and swings the most with congestion.

Why is Ethereum gas so much higher than the others?

Ethereum is a layer 1 that processes every transaction directly, so block space is scarce and priced by demand. Layer 2s batch many transactions and settle to Ethereum in bulk, which is why they're cents instead of dollars.

How is 'typical gas' calculated?

The figures come from LI.FI's live gas suggestion for each chain, converted to USD using the chain's native-token price at that moment. It's an estimate for a typical transaction, not a guarantee for your specific swap — the widget always shows the exact fee before you confirm.

How do I move to a cheaper chain?

Bridge to it. Pick the cheapest chain in the table, hit its bridge link, and move your tokens there in a couple of minutes — non-custodial, with the fee shown up front.
